Through Shadhika, I want to stand with the girls of India. I want my monthly donations to be the encouragement they need to chase their dreams and to become productive, independent members of society, with a career they can be proud of.
Giving with Gratitude

Reading Time: 3 minutesI have chosen to support Shadhika because this organization has been working for 25 years to empower girls and women in India through education. I believe in the power of education to promote self-confidence in these young women, unlock their potential, and equip them to pursue good careers.
The value of education was instilled in me by my parents. They were children from large families living on farms during the Great Depression of 1929-1933. Despite hardships, they completed college degrees and married after World War II ended, and their example inspired me to become an educator myself and to pass that value on to my children and grandchildren.
I am a thirty-year retired educator with a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. Education has enhanced my life in every way from earning power to traveling and the ability to give to others. Throughout my career, my purpose was to make a difference in the life of a child. In my retirement years, I still hope to do just that by becoming a monthly donor with Shadhika.
While working with various charities and church initiatives, I have seen first-hand the effects of poverty, illness, and malnutrition on children. I have also seen the expressions of joy, hope, and pride when those same children are given the chance to go to school and learn.
Through Shadhika, I want to stand with the girls of India. I want my monthly donations to be the encouragement they need to chase their dreams and to become productive, independent members of society, with a career they can be proud of.
During this period of Thanksgiving, there is much on our minds. But I hope you will join me in giving to Shadhika as you are able, in gratitude for the education and opportunities we sometimes take for granted. I make my monthly donations in memory of my father who served in the U.S. military in China, Burma, and India during World War II. While my father was stationed in India, he witnessed the hard work of thousands of Indian women to ensure full supply chains to support the Allies.
So I give to Shadhika with gratitude and to support the education and professional goals of young women in India to achieve their highest potential. Whatever the size of your monthly donation, be assured that your gift is a lifeline to these young women that cannot be underestimated in this moment of dire need.
