Alexia Pritchard, long-time supporter of Shadhika, had the opportunity to spend time in Kolkata visiting our projects a couple of years ago.  She was captivated by New Light’s  Soma Home and has made this inspiring movie about the at-risk girls who’re given the opportunity to build a future for themselves in a safe and nurturing environment.

The documentary is airing Tuesday 3/27/12 on PBS in various parts of the country.  Please check your local listings.  (In the SF Bay Area, it is on KRCB Ch 22 – Comcast 200 – at 9:30 pm).

New Light in the New York Times!

Shadhika has been an early and constant supporter of New Light and its founder Urmi Basu, and strongly recommends this article by Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times. It is a moving account of the plight of one little girl and we are proud to help New Light in its ongoing struggle to help this child and hundreds like her.
